Important Update for Dr. Viger’s Patients
Dr. Viger will be closing his practice as of September 1, 2025 as he relocates out of Kamloops.
At this time, STEPS does not have a provider available to take on new patients. We are actively recruiting and will prioritize previous patients once we are able to reattach.
Make sure you’re registered with the BC Health Connect Registry (call 811 or visit healthlinkbc.ca) to be added to the waitlist for a new provider. Please note: registering with the Health Connect Registry does not remove you from the STEPS list - it simply gives you more options for care in the future.
We kindly ask that patients do not call reception to inquire about available providers. If a new provider becomes available, we will contact you directly. Our staff has limited capacity and needs to remain focused on patient care.
If you need your medical records transferred, contact STEPS CHC Valleyview at 250-828-8080. Please note: a fee applies for transfers.
In the meantime, locum doctors (temporary physicians) are helping to maintain care until September 1, 2025. Please be kind and respectful-locums cannot take over Dr. Viger’s patients permanently. They are only with us temporarily, and will not be available after September 1st. If overwhelmed with concerns or requests, they may not be able to continue supporting us, which would reduce access further.
